Temporary Water Bill Policy for Niota Waterworks
Effective immediately, until April 30th, 2020, all water bills for all water bill routes 1-9 will not have late fees assessed to their service accounts beginning March 21, 2020 through May 1, 2020. It is the intent of the Niota Water Department and Board of Commissioners to re-evaluate this policy and extend it as necessary, depending on Federal regulations on the Quarantine and Self-Isolation situation of the Covid-19 pandemic and its’ effects on our bill payers.
Furthermore, the Niota Waterworks will not conduct service disconnects for delinquent accounts that the customer provides a valid statement written on employers’ letterhead noting ‘Lay-Off due to the Covid-19 pandemic’ from their employer and it must include a contact name and phone number for verification. This is for accounts delinquent after March 30th, 2020 which is 5 business days after the original due date of March 20, 2020. We will, however, resume service disconnects after April 30, 2020 depending if the current Federal, State and County Commission has lifted the State of Emergency status which will be addressed at that time. Those accounts that were delinquent prior to March 20, 2020 are at risk on a case-by-case basis for service disconnection for non-payment.
All New and Discontinue Service connection requests shall be made through email only with the normal required proper documentation provided by the customer and service fees paid, if applicable.
Regular water bill payments will continue to be due and payable through:
Night Drop Box
Peoples Bank (if not delinquent, customer must have bill)
Online at Cityofniota.org
Bill Pay through customers’ bank
The ONLY difference is customer payments and/or Service Fees in any type of denomination will not be accepted in the office.
This policy is subject to change at any time by Niota City Board of Commissioners.
